Before printing make sure you have credit on your printing account. You may add credit at the IC

Your NetAccount will be debited per page printed.

To begin printing:
- At any computer in the Information Commons, select the print option in the application that you use to print your document. Either click on the print icon or go to File>Print>OK.
- Go to a Print Station on any floor. (See floor plans for locations)
- Swipe your ID card through the card reader on top of the computer. If you do not have your card or the swiper is not working, press Enter> and enter your NetID and your NetPassword.
- A list of documents to be printed will appear.
- Highlight the document you want to print out >Select>Print>OK. The screen displays the printer your work is being sent to. If you are printing more than one document highlight them all at one time.
- To save a document or documents for printing some time in the next 24 hours, highlight the document in the list and click on the hold button on the bottom left-hand side of the screen. If you do not do this and print out other documents on the screen, then all other documents you can see on the screen will be lost. However, you must print out from the same facility where you originally sent the print job. For example, if you send a print job to a printer at the Grafton Information Commons you must go to a Grafton Information Commons print station within 24 hours to print it out.
Printing multiple pages on one sheet
- Click on File > Print > Properties > Layout
- Go to the Pages per Sheet arrow and select the number of pages from the pull down menu
- Click OK and then print the job
IMPORTANT: When printing multiple pages on a single A4 sheet, the
NetAccount system will still charge you as if printing on separate pages. For
example, if you are printing 4 page to a sheet, you will initially be charged
$0.40, then automatically be refunded $0.30 within 10 minutes.
Go to the nearest print station and continue as with a regular print job.
Printing from PowerPoint
Print as usual. An additional function will allow you to print multiple slides on the same page.
- Go to File > Print > Print What
- Select Handouts
- Next to this drop down menu is an options list, go here and select how many slides you want printed per page
Printing Double Sided
- Click on File > Print > Properties
- Click on Layout tab
- Select 'front to back' > 'flip on long edge for Portrait' and 'flip on short edge for Landscape'
Be aware that double-sided printing charges you for 2 pages i.e. 20c. This charge extends to consumables i.e. toner - you are not using less toner when printing double sided.
Printing on A3
For example, to print an MS Word document on A3:
- In the menu click File > Page Setup
- Click Paper
- In the Paper size option, use the pull down menu arrow to select A3
- Click OK
- Click on the menu's print icon or click File > Print > OK
Go to a print station that has an A3 tray in the left-hand printer and continue as with a regular print job.
IMPORTANT HINTS
- Ensure you have enough money on your account to print.
- Select 'hold' if you wish to save any non-highlighted print jobs, otherwise they will simply disappear!
- If you are printing large files (files in PDF format and PowerPoint in particular), it is better to print them out one at a time. In this case, make sure you hold all other print jobs
- You will only be charged for the number of actual pages that are printed out
- If there is a problem with the printer, tell a staff member. Do not attempt to fix it yourself.
